Measuring the performance of large scale investments in station development projects

Over the last five years, Network Rail’s ongoing investment at stations across the UK has helped deliver stations that are not just places to travel to and from, but destinations in their own right. This investment is continuing with retail enhancement projects well underway at London’s Liverpool Street, Paddington, Euston and London Bridge stations.

To keep track of the results of these large investments PFM Footfall Intelligence placed thermal images cameras in alle entry and exit points to the Station Concourse area and every retail store within the station. PFM gradually rolled -out this technology over the last 4-5 years and now there are 2,300 cameras installed!

The data that measures the performance of retail stores helps management to assist them in maximising the opportunity they get from large and increasing footfall numbers.
