The challenge
Rituals sought reliable insights into store visitors. The current supplier used traditional CCTV at entrances for counting, but accuracy was often affected by lighting, shadows, and heavy foot traffic.
A pilot in two stores showed significant discrepancies between the PFM system and the existing one, leading to inconsistent reports and historically unreliable conversion rates. This highlighted a critical issue: the potential for converting visitors into buyers had been seriously miscalculated.
Recognizing that accurate visitor counting is essential for retail success, it became evident that the current hardware was inadequate and needed replacement for reliable data to support informed business decisions.
Our approach.
The pilot of PFM technology in stores across the Netherlands and China provided key insights into data accuracy and system performance. Collaborative sessions in the PFM demo truck ensured all teams understood the path forward.
The result
After thorough testing, PFM was awarded the partnership with Rituals’ shop fitting company. The rollout began in summer 2024, updating 40% of stores by early October at nearly 15 stores per day.
Our team created 700 AutoCAD drawings to specify optimal sensor placements for the shop fitting company. After installation, sensor experts commissioned each sensor, and once the data was validated, it was handed over to Rituals' BI team for accuracy and functionality.
